What I'm focused on now

Thinking

I keep coming back to what breaks when the user isn’t human. Every layer of the internet—payments, identity, discovery, compute—assumed someone at the keyboard, and AI agents don’t fit. I’m mapping the five layers that have to be rebuilt: rails, protocols, discovery, identity, and payments. Payments breaks first, and I wrote about why in agent payments have a three-body problem. The agent-era infrastructure map is where I’m tracking the rest.

Reading

Not reading much long-form right now. Upshift is launching, and I’m deep in AI. I’ll come back to it when the cycle calms down.

Working

We are in the early years of the largest commercial reorganization since the internet. And most companies are wasting it. AI is driving it. Upshift is the mechanism I built to help professional services firms act on it. Just launched.

I’m also working on go-to-market consulting with a handful of frontier tech founders. Details of how I work.

Writing

Sideband is focused on agent-era infrastructure and also appears alongside the rest of my writing on go-to-market, Bitcoin, and whatever else I’m wrestling with.

Podcasting

Trust Revolution is the podcast I host. Season 3 just wrapped—seven episodes on digital autonomy, surveillance, data sovereignty, and Bitcoin’s unfinished fight. Grateful to have had Oscar Merry, Jason Hughey, Aaron van Wirdum, John Robb, Jesse Posner, James Lee, and Roland Bewick on.
